Arsenal v Liverpool ~ 28-10-07

Arsenal returned to the top of the Premiership after a late equaliser by Cesc Fabregas earned them a 1-1 draw with Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

The hosts seemed intent on giving Arsenal a good fight, and when Steven Gerrard blasted home from twenty yards on seven minutes it looked like the north Londoners were in for a fierce battle.

But, after his early goal, Gerrard seemed content to run around chasing shadows for the rest of the match as Arsenal kept the ball in Liverpool's half and created chances.

Gerrard and the rest of his team were spectators for the most part, as the Arsenal boys ran rings around the Scousers, and the three points were there for the taking. But, the absence of van Persie was a huge blow to the team, and Adebayor looked well off the pace at times, producing nothing of any value.

Liverpool hung on desperately to the lead until ten minutes from time. Step forward the hero of the day, Cesc Fabregas, who in the eightieth minute with a pass from Hleb, wrong-footed Pepe Reina with a shot from eight yards and scored the equalising goal.

This was his tenth goal of the season, and once again proved his worth on the pitch. He should have scored more and should have been given the man of the match award. That went to Jamie Carragher, who fiercely broke down Arsenal's attacks. But, the unneccessary shirt-pulling he did on Fabregas should have given Arsenal a penalty.

Had Arsenal lost this match it wouldn't have been such a big deal, as Liverpool aren't (in my opinion) good enough to challenge for the title. The
Big One comes next Saturday. Arsenal and Manchester United are both playing excellent football at the moment, so this match will definitely be one to watch. Hold onto your seats, it's going to be a bumpy ride!

Up The Gunners!
